Impressive look and feel at Designer Outlet Sosnowiec with new car park, upgraded façade and green lifestyle area

Over 1,800 parking spaces, a new lifestyle area and additional greenery are now open to the public at Designer Outlet Sosnowiec.

Sosnowiec, 7th February 2022 - Last spring, works began on the redevelopment of the parking area and walkways around the Designer Outlet Sosnowiec premises. The increase in the number of customers and the care for their comfort highlighted the need to launch the reconstruction project of the areas adjacent to the largest outlet centre in the region.

“The 11,450 square metre site offers a redesigned parking area with additional parking spaces for cars, as well as newly planted greenery and a landscaped nature trail. Since 1 February, customers can use the more than 1,800 conveniently located parking spaces. In spring they will be able to enjoy a unique chill-out area arranged opposite the new main ‘food court’ entrance to the centre", explains Dariusz Obołończyk, Centre Manager at Designer Outlet Centre Sosnowiec.

The new chill-out area consists of a 415.65 sqm rebuilt wide pier located on a redesigned pond where customers will find a walking track as well as a place to rest and relax during their visit to the outlet centre.

“We are proud to offer guests a place to relax in a peaceful and beautiful setting right next to the main entrance to the centre. Here you can relax on comfortable sofas at tables placed undersun-protective sails. These are perfect areas, hidden among the freshly planted greenery, to meet with family and friends and enjoy a coffee, lunch or snack”, said Elżbieta Zygmunt, Marketing Manager at Designer Outlet Sosnowiec. “Customers in the outdoor food court will be able to relax by the water with the view of a floating fountain, even during cool autumn evenings, which will be warmed up by the newly installed radiant heaters”, she added.

The new leisure area also features a 100 m long botanical educational path around the pond with plaques describing the flowers, shrubs and trees of the surrounding vegetation that will bloom in spring to the delight of customers.

The entire project creates a unique shopping and leisure space, serving the growing customer demand for better mixed-use places. In this vein, the centre’s façade has also been given a fresh look, whose new dark red clinker, combined with the sand-coloured, industrial plaster, matches perfectly the new centre’s atmosphere. In addition, the façade features logos and impressive advertising graphics of several brands available at Designer Outlet Sosnowiec, giving a unique "halo" effect.

The investment called "Extension of the above-ground car park with technical infrastructure" represents a series of improvements and a shift towards sustainable operation of the Designer Outlet Sosnowiec, recently awarded a BREEAM certificate for best practice in sustainable building design, construction and operation. The main switchboard supplying the facility with electricity was modernized and the car park lighting replaced with LED technology entirely. A new gas station was also built to keep the centre heated, and customers who opt for zero-emission vehicles can now use up to 6EV charging stations, which is becoming an increasing trend in Poland.

The new convenient car park and open-air leisure area are the first part of the planned redevelopment of Designer Outlet Sosnowiec, managed by ROS Retail Outlet Shopping. In 2021, the centre recorded higher turnover volumes than in the previous year, despite the lockdowns due to the pandemic. This optimism is reflected in both the tenants and customers, which also contributes to the planning of the further centre’s extension. Designer Outlet Sosnowiec is currently working to secure the required number of new leases planned for this year in order to start work on the expansion of the retail area.
