Let’s meet Nuno Lopes, Retail Manager at Designer Outlet Algarve

We are excited to welcome Nuno Lopes as the new Retail Manager at Designer Outlet Algarve. With his background in both retail and store management he brings a great deal of knowledge and experience from a variety of viewpoints.

We caught up with Nuno to learn more about his professional journey and what excites him most about this new role he has taken on.

What are your key goals for the first few months in your new role

My first objective is to develop a strong understanding of the business, from both a strategic and a day-to-day operational perspective.

To fully become aligned with the centre’s vision for the future, I really want to understand the specific needs of each brand, my team’s priorities and our visitors’ expectations.  At the same time, I want to identify areas where I can add immediate value, such as improving processes to enhance my team’s efficiency.

What’s your approach when it comes to building strong partnerships with brands?

Having spent most of my career in retail, I understand the challenges that many stores face on a daily basis, as I speak the same 'language' as the brands, so to speak. This experience enables me to build partnerships based on trust and shared objectives.

For me, effective communication is non-negotiable. This involves regular store visits, proactive updates and consistent availability as a reliable point of contact. I want to be part of their journey to success at Designer Outlet Algarve.

Do you have a go-to motto or mindset when things get busy?

I like the saying:“Retail is detail.”
I believe it’s the small details, handled with consistency and discipline, that make the biggest difference even when things get busy.

Can you take us back to the moment you found out about this role? What made you think, “Yes, this one’s for me”?

I first came across the job on LinkedIn, but I didn't pay much attention to it at first as it's not a very common role. Then, two friends sent me the link and encouraged me to take another look. When I finally read the job description carefully, I thought, 'Yes, this one's for me!'

One email and a couple of interviews later, here I am!

If Designer Outlet Algarve had a fashion style or attitude - what would it be?

I would describe the fashion style of Designer Outlet Algarve as classy yet sporty. If I had to translate that into dressing styles, I would say classic during the week and sporty during the weekend.

This combination also reflects the outlet's dynamic range of brands - always looking to be the ultimate fashion shopping destination!
